The themes of Thomas Lynch's work are very simple. They are “sex and love and grief and death ­ the things that make us and undo us, create and destroy, how we breed and disappear and the emotional context that surrounds these events.”  As an undertaker with over 30 years experience, the theme of death dominates his work, yet his writing lacks the morose and melancholy nature that one might expect.
